All of the reading retreats have sold out very quickly to date, and given how quickly the first UK retreat sold out, we will do this one a bit differently. Instead of an open sale, we’ll do a random draw among Book Huddle Club members, where you’ll have 24 hours to purchase a ticket if your name is drawn.

UK Reading Retreat Dates & Location
This retreat at Hampton Manor, which is about 10 minutes outside of Birmingham, UK, from Sun Mar 16th to Tue Mar 18th, 2025.
Hampton Manor is a luxury 5-star hotel and the former residence of a prime minister. Nestled on 45 acres of land, the estate boasts 24 bedrooms (8 twinned) and a walled garden, award-winning restaurants (including one with a Michelin star), a cookery school, and a farm-to-table ethos focused on sustainability. This historical manor offers an ambiance of elegance and tranquility, making it the perfect retreat setting.
The manor is conveniently located close to multiple airports:
A 10-minute drive from Birmingham International Airport
A 5-minute drive from the train station to London Euston (where you can transfer to Heathrow or other London airports such as Gatwick, Luton, or Stansted)
Approximately a 2-hour train from Manchester Airport
Think of a reading retreat as a book club. You’ll choose from a selection of books, read the book before, and discuss the book with your huddle over the retreat! It’s the perfect bookish getaway, complete with plenty of reading, book chats, and opportunities to make new friends who love books as much as you do.
For our first international retreat, I wanted a location that felt luxurious yet cozy, and Hampton Manor offers exactly that. Plus, we’ll have the entire manor to ourselves!
Sleeping Accommodations
I’m a bit high-maintenance when it comes to sleeping, and I’m so excited about Hampton Manor’s exquisite rooms. You'll have the choice of either single (king bed) or shared room (two twin beds) accommodations.
All guest rooms have:

Tea/coffee kit
100 Acre bath products
A selection of books
Some rooms are in the manor, some are in the garden, and some are ensuites in a cottage! While each room is individually decorated and different, they all share the same charm and standards.
If you’re going for a shared room option, you can pre-select a roommate or be paired with a fellow attendee after you get your ticket!

Retreat Books
The retreat will have four book options: fiction, thriller, romance, and fantasy. All of the books will be recently published and vetted by yours truly. I prioritize women, LGBTQ+, and BIPOC authors and/or storylines with the book selections.
Ticket Prices
All ticket prices include:
Sleeping accommodations for Sunday and Monday nights
Meals and non-alcoholic beverages from Sunday dinner through Tuesday breakfast
A wine-tasting class with the on-site sommelier
A private book fair just for our group
A bread-baking class at the on-site cookery
Activities for the entire retreat from Sunday at 4pm through Tuesday at 11am
A welcome bag full of bookish goodies
Your chosen book mailed to you in advance in your preferred format
This will be a sober-friendly event, but there will also be a cash bar if you'd like to add some bubbly or booze to your retreat activities (which I plan on doing)!
Solo ROOM Ticket
If you’d like your own single room, the retreat ticket fee per person is $1,925 USD. There will also be a payment plan of $369 per month for six months.
SHARED ROOM TICKET
The retreat ticket fee for a shared room (each in a twin bed) is $1,450 USD per person. There will also be a payment plan of $278 per month for six months.

Starting August 17th, we’ll conduct a daily random draw among Book Huddle Club members. Once you receive an email, you’ll have 24 hours to finalize your purchase. There’s no need to enter your name—as a BHC member you’ll be automatically entered!
